(@$#$!*# It's Monday ... and Daylight Savings Time Got Me Again!
I'm not liking this early time change - it snuck up on me this morning. I was late to class, I was disorganized, and ended up thoroughly out of sorts.
I'm guessing my students were entertained - they kept laughing about it, anyway. I learned something today - there's a spot down at the old train station downtown, where, if you speak, your voice comes back at you from every direction - it's called 'The Center of the Universe'. One of the students wanted to know what, exactly was happening there - I don't know, but stay tuned - I plan to see if I can figure this out tomorrow!
Well, yesterday was cold, today is toasty-warm. The tree debris from the ice storm of December 9 is NEARLY all cleaned up. My yard is naked, wounded, and pathetic-looking (as is everyone else's, of course) and none of us on the hill readily recognize our neighborhood, anymore, without our trees - SIGH.
Alien landscape. My dogs are loving it, however - they have retrieved EVERY stick under 3 feet long left over from the 'cleanup', to lay them on the back porch and all over the lower yard (we're terraced). AND they both run around the yard, holding them tenderly in their jaws, gnawing the bark off when they lay down to rest (the sticks make fantastic chew toys - except they don't squeak). They can't help it, though, they have no brains :-)
Meet Nugget (top) and Tiger ... my furry idiots:
